Comedy

Liverpool is famous for its comedy, and Liverpudlians love to make you laugh, from your happy-go-lucky bloke down the pub to your professional Liverpool stand-ups like John Bishop and Neil Fitzmaurice.

You will always have a fun time in Liverpool, and if you want to enjoy some classic Liverpool comedy then there is everything from a spookily entertaining Shiverpool ghost tour of the city to endless Liverpool comedy clubs in the Liverpool City Region.

Check out the hilarious Laughterhouse comedy nights at The Slaughterhouse on Fenwick Street, one of Liverpool’s premier comedy clubs, or the Laughterhouse at Lenny’s Bar and Smoke Grill on Fridays and Saturdays. You can get great food and drinks there too, as well as enjoy some of Liverpool nightlife’s most entertaining offerings.

The Blue Bar and Grill at the Albert Dock has top Comedy Central nights throughout the year on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Not far away is also the huge Liverpool comedy venue that is the Echo Arena Liverpool, which has played host to the Mighty Boosh, John Bishop, Russell Howard and Peter Kay.

The Empire, the Royal Court and Southport Theatre all host great national comedy acts too such as Jimmy Carr and Alexei Sale, while the Royal Court’s Art Deco Downstairs Bar hosts the popular Rawhide comedy nights, Liverpool’s longest-running comedy club, every Friday and Saturday night. The bar is a great spot for seeing up and coming Liverpool comedy acts and is one of the venues for the annual Liverpool Comedy Festival which takes place every May. This is a city-wide celebration of leading comedy, featuring big comedy names such as Sean Lock and Paul Merton in various venues from Liverpool ONE shopping centre to the Everyman theatre.
