Guided Tours

tourGuided Tours led by qualified guides take place year round.

These tours are suitable for individuals, groups, schools and organisations that wish to add to their knowledge of the Liverpool slave trade. A selection of tour guides is listed here to help you choose which tour is best for you.

Rita Martelli and Francis Williams are qualified Liverpool 08 Guides who can offer you a detailed Slavery Remembrance Tour which highlights aspects of Liverpool's history connected to the transatlantic slave trade, its abolition and black heritage. Tours last about an hour and a half and highlight sites in the Liverpool city centre such as The Athenaeum, Liverpool Town Hall, Rumford Place (the only Confederate Embassy outside of the United States of America during the civil war), Liverpool Cotton Exchange, Liverpool Parish Church (where the Merchant Coffee House stood) and the International Slavery Museum.

Eric Scott Lynch, a highly respected member of Liverpool's black community, has a long history of community involvement. He is an honorary Ghanaian Chief 'Nii Saka' - third born son of the male lion. His tours begin outside the Maritime Museum on the magnificent Albert Dock. Guided tours are available throughout most of the year, rain or shine.

These guided tours wind their way past the various buildings that have a connection with the transatlantic slave trade.
