Summer may be almost over so make the most of the last of the sunshine on your short break or visit to Liverpool, by dining alfresco. Here‘s our suggestions for the best places where you can enjoy great food with great views (and top up the tan!)

Baltic Triangle

For a laid-back vibe, Constellations is an inspiring award-winning venue, which was once a warehouse and recycling yard. You’ll find a chilled and relaxed atmosphere and an awesome menu. Throughout the summer months the outdoor BBQ serves up mouthwatering burgers as well as sharing platters – all washed down with some craft beers such as ‘Love Lane’ from the Garden Bar.  It’s great for veggie and vegan friendly food and the Weekend Brunch club is something to write home about. Food is fresh, locally sourced and seasonal, so combine all that with a bit of live music and you have yourself a boss spot from breakfast to sundown.

Overlooking the dock waterfront and situated on the 2nd floor of the ferry terminal, Matou Pan Asian is a modern restaurant and cocktail bar where the fusion-style menu merges Malaysian, Thai, Japanese and Chinese into signature dishes which look as great as they taste.

Dine on the waterfront terrace with beautiful views of the River Mersey whilst watching the sun set over Pier Head.

For the perfect suntrap and a lot of soul, head to Revolución de Cuba Liverpool at the Albert Dock where you can dine, drink and relax in the sunshine.  The Latin American inspired menu paired with an exotic and exciting cocktails provide a perfect summertime mix of Cuban passion. If you’re looking for somewhere to dine whilst watching the sunset, the head here before enjoying the live music and late night partying in the Casa de la Musica.

Bold Street

For a cool (as in boss not temperature!) summertime hangout where you can buy New York inspired pizza, head to American Pizza Slice who pride themselves on making the ‘best damn pizzas in Liverpool’ – and we agree!  Pizza is served by the slice as well as whole with flavours such as: the Spanish Pizza or Philly Cheese Slice. There’s also gluten free slices and gluten free beer. Enjoy a slice or two in the suntrap of a garden whilst listening to chilled tunes and enjoying a cold beer. It’s a perfect venue for a lunch break in between exploring the city or before heading out in the evening.

Maryland Street

How about a secret garden?  At Free State Kitchen you’ll find a contemporary twist on American classics which uses locally sourced produced and fresh ingredients to create a mouth-watering menu of ‘handhelds’ such as burgers, hot dogs and deli-sandwiches. Free State Kitchen is so passionate about using local produce they’ve planted their own fruit trees and herb garden which makes you feel like you’re sat in your ‘ma’s garden. With picnic-style benches, acoustic tunes and craft beers – it is the perfect summertime hangout.

Liverpool One

If you’re on a ‘shop to you drop’ mission you will need to take a breather from the world-class shopping and rest your feet.  Head up to Chavasse Park at the top of Liverpool One and you will forget you’re in the heart of the shopping precinct. With five acres of landscaped gardens and a Leisure Terrace offering a choice of cuisine from around the world. There’s a great choice of restaurants and bars with outside seating where you can sit, rest and people watch in the sunshine.

Alternatively, pack up a picnic or pick up a takeaway from one of the restaurants, lay out a mat and soak up the sunshine in the heart of the city.

Stay a little longer…

If you’re looking to stay in the city before the end of the summer or to make the most of an (hopeful) Indian summer, the Crown Plaza Liverpool Hotel has a stunning dockside terrace adjacent to the Royal Liver Building with views over the River Mersey. Enjoy the international flavours of The Brasserie, relax in The Lounge or simply enjoy morning coffee on the terrace.

The summertime is not complete without a BBQ and at the stunning Titanic Hotel at Stanley Docks, has launched the Colonnade Barbeque Experience – the ultimate al fresco dining experience. Running until the 4th September on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday you can expect a summer party atmosphere being complete with a Caribbean steel band.  Combine that with a stay at the hotel and you have yourself a memorable late summer break.
