The Merseyside Council of Faiths

The Council was launched in May 2001 in Liverpool Town Hall. Its basis is the fact that world religions hold in common simple but profound values such as compassion, justice and mercy, and common purposes such as the search for peace and the pursuit of truth and wisdom.

It is affiliated to the Inter Faith Network for the UK and comprises three or four representatives of the seven major world faiths found in Merseyside: Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim and Sikh.

The aims of the Council are to encourage mutual friendship and education, to help build good community relations and to facilitate consultation with statutory bodies.
