Liverpool's faith communities have a rich and diverse history. These communities have contributed greatly to the culture, economy and politics of the Merseyside region. Their histories are rich and include in many cases the oldest religious settlements in Europe.

NWMFTA works for local and national community cohesion through sharing cultures, especially by supporting tourism initiatives such as the Marque of Excellence. The Marque is awarded to sacred spaces such as Mosques, Cathedrals, Temples, Synagogues, Gurdwaras and Churches in the Northwest that reach the Association's standard of excellence in welcoming visitors.

WORK has started on a £2.5m project to restore Britain's first mosque.
The derelict grade II listed Georgian Brougham Terrace in Tuebrook is to be transformed into a heritage and education centre. This month work began on treating the dry rot in the timbers and repairing the roof to make it watertight.Fundraisers have been given the go-ahead to approach the Heritage Lottery Fund for funding.The project is a tribute to Liverpool lawyer William Henry Quilliam, who converted to Islam after visiting Morocco in 1887 and changed his name to Abdullah Quilliam.
New techonology will help deaf people enjoy a guided tour of Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral for the first time. The tour will take British sign language users on a journey through the building at their own pace, using portable DVD players. The film, made with Liverpool-based LA Productions, is at the heart of a new visitor attraction, a multimedia journey called "The Great Space".
