This section of the website contains information and links relating to culture and heritage, including the European Capital of Culture 2008. In more general terms, Merseyside illustrates the role of culture and heritage in shaping a region and facilitating urban regeneration. Merseyside, and particularly Liverpool, has a fascinating history, having inherited some unique features in terms of its communities, arts and architecture.
Merseyside also provides an interesting case study of using cultural resources to promote economic development. As culture is not merely a product but also a way of life, this section recognises some of the organisations representing the various communities and ethnic groups that contribute to Merseyside's culture.
