NICE08 promises to explore contemporary versions of age old links between the North West and the Nordic countries through art, music, literature, culture, business and design.We have devised a programme of events that we feel will appeal to all tastes and age groups, showcasing contemporary Nordic artists, designers and performers at some of Liverpool's best loved venues. Nordic women artists will be showing work at Novas CUC, Liverpool's newest arts centre, through September to November, with an opportunity to come and meet the artists and talk about their work. A Foundation Contemporary Art Gallery are working with us to present a combined arts and dance event featuring H2 Dance, a Swedish - Norwegian - UK collaboration. Liverpool's Met Quarter will host an exhibition of some of the finest examples of new design from the Nordic countries and the UK, created in partnership with the award winning team from The Bluecoat Display Centre.

The World Museum are presenting a wide ranging programme of events and exhibitions to run alongside thefestival, full details can be found on this website and World Museums website. Maritime Museum are holding events for adults and children alike with talks and activities examining Merseysides Viking heritage. Vladimir Ashkenazy will conduct Beethoven 9 with the Liverpool Philharmonic, and visiting choir Langholtskirkjukor from Reykjavik, Iceland, and a chritsmas concert will take place at Liverpool Cathedral, featuring Icelandic soloist Bjorg Thorhallsdottir and Faroese singer Eivor Palsdottir. Other highlights and events will include films at Fact, and Nordic bands playing at various venues in the city, keep checking back for full details.
