Lord Street is the main shopping street of Southport Classic Resort. It is one of the great shopping streets of Liverpool City Region and measures exactly 1 mile in length, with a roundabout marking each end of the street. There are many water features, gardens and architectural buildings along the entire street, with a mix of residential, commercial and public buildings.
Napoleon III lived in lodgings just off Lord Street, in 1846, before becoming Emperor of the French in 1851. Lord Street is claimed to be the inspiration behind the tree-lined boulevards of Paris with Napoleon III taking the concept to Paris. During his reign, he caused much of the medieval centre of Paris to be replaced with broad tree lined boulevards, covered walkways and arcades, just like Lord Street.
If it’s style and sophistication you’re after then Lord Street is a great example of this in Southport – England’s Classic Resort.
With a tree lined, mile-long boulevard, featuring everything from famous high street names to high quality and speciality retailers.
Relax by the fountains in Lord Street gardens, refresh at many of the coffee shops and traditional tea shops or have a bite to eat at one of our many restaurants, or refresh with an ice cream in one of the many ice cream parlours. Or why not after a long day of shopping, head over to the Southport Arts Centre to catch a show?
