Mere Brook House is an imposing Edwardian country house offering high-class bed and breakfast. It is situated in its own grounds extending to almost four acres which include a beautiful garden with sunken dell sheltered by mature trees with paddocks and a woodland area beyond running down to the Mere Brook. It is located on the edge of the picturesque village of Thornton Hough on the Wirral, between the famous cities of Liverpool and Chester.

Whether staying on the Wirral due to business commitments or on a social visit we can offer you a warm welcome where you can work or relax in comfortable and luxurious surroundings. In keeping with the relaxed atmosphere of a private country house the four en suite bedrooms have been individually designed using a mix of antique and contemporary furniture and fabrics.

The oak panelled lounge, dining and garden rooms all overlook the gardens with direct access to the terrace.

All the rooms throughout the house have access to broadband.

Road Directions

If coming from the North the easiest route is to take the M6 then onto the M56 motorway but auto route or your sat nav may take you via Liverpool, as that is the shortest route, but it is no quicker and you will need the patience for 40 sets of traffic lights along with £1.40 for the Mersey tunnel.

From the M6

Leave the M6 to join the M56 to Chester (not Manchester) at junction 20.
At junction 15 of the M56 take the second exit for the M53 to Birkenhead (not Chester),

Leave the M53 at junction 4, at the roundabout take the first exit to Clatterbridge, go past the hospital on your right and you come to a roundabout with a garage in the middle of it, go straight across and then at the next smaller roundabout turn left, you will go past the rugby club on your left, continue on this road and Mere Brook House is the last but one house before the motorway bridge on the right. It has a new wooden fence and there are two entrances close together both with stone pillars – use either entrance and you will see the house.

By Coach – Take a Coach to Liverpool then take a bus to Clatterbridge. Mere Brook House is 1/3 mile walk from the bus stop.

By Rail – Bromborough Station is 1.7 miles from Mere Brook House then take a taxi from the station.

By Air – From Liverpool John Lennon Airport or Manchester Airport take a train to Liverpool Lime Street Station and then use Merseyrail to Bromborough Station
