Brimstage Hall Courtyard

Add to your Itinerary

Brimstage is a beautiful village set in an idyllic location and can be found in the heart of rural Wirral.

Standing on what appears to be the geographical centre of Wirral is Brimstage Hall, which is a strange and mysterious place, that oozes charisma and is steeped in history and legend.

There is no full record of when it was built but it was erected within the centre of an original fortified area which was enclosed by a moat and high embankment.

Expert opinion dates the Hall at between 1175 and 1350, and the first recorded occupant was Sir Hugh Hulse and his wife Marjorie, they were granted the right to build the Chapel on 11th February 1398, but the original structure was in existence far earlier but of unknown origin?

At Brimstage Hall Courtyard you step into 12th Century surroundings to find an abundance of gifts and visiting crafters.

Also sample the home cooking of The Country Mouse Restaurant and Wirral's choicest selection of silk and dried flowers.

Other activities on site include a picnic area, free parking, Brimstage Maize Maze and tractor and trailer rides throughout the summer (check with Brimstage Hall for dates).

PLEASE NOTE:

From Monday 8th March a section of the A5137 Brimstage Road, from the village of Brimstage to Junction 4 M53 (Clatterbridge roundabout) will be closed for up to six weeks for urgent road repairs. The village of Brimstage however, in particular the well known and popular Brimstage Hall Courtyard complex, home to 12 retail businesses, including Voirrey Embroidery and The Country Mouse Restaurant, will still be at all times accessible and open to business as usual.

Diversion signs from Junction 4 of the M53 will divert traffic to Thornton Hough and Brimstage Hall Courtyard traffic can reach Brimstage via Manor Road and Talbot Avenue. Similarly traffic from West Wirral can reach Brimstage via Thornton Hough, Brimstage Road at Heswall and via Whitehouse Lane from Barnston, all usual routes. Businesses at Brimstage hope all their customers will continue to support them during this difficult period.
