You're in for a treat when you head inland. In the middle of the Wirral countryside is Arrowe Country Park, with 400 acres of open parkland, woodland and a municipal golf course. Another oasis of calm is Birkenhead Park. Designed by Sir Joseph Paxton, you could lose hours wandering through its beautiful open meadows and around its scenic lakes. Be sure to stop by the Pavilion Visitor Centre too.
The lush pastures and chocolate-box buildings of Thornton Hough offer a fine example of village life, while nearby
Brimstage Village contains the wonderful Brimstage Hall Craft Centre, full of unusual shops in a lovely setting.
Take the kids to Royden Park. The park has a range of wildlife habitats, a walled nature garden and a model railway that children will simply love.
