Our galleries are full of the best modern and contemporary art and offer the perfect environment for children to learn, create and have fun.
We have baby changing facilities, a free cloakroom, colourful gifts in the Tate Shop and a child friendly menu in Tate Café, where high chairs are available.
Children aged between 0 and 12 (and their adults!) are challenged to visit the Explorers Base Camp trolley to collect a map or activity bag. The maps take the young explorers on a journey of discovery to see, feel and learn about the art in the gallery. Before they return back to base camp they create some art of their own, inspired by their exploration. Start at the ground floor and work your way up.
Every Sunday 13.30-16.30 and 24 May - 1 June (half term).
Drop in to the gallery with your family and pick up one of our free family trails to bring the exhibitions to life for you and your children.
Pick up a free family bag from the foyer and try the Common Objects activity trail which will take you around the galleries on the first and second floor. The trail shows you ordinary and extraordinary objects, asks how art is made and invites you to create your own. Admission is free.
If you have already booked ticket for the Niki de Saint Phalle exhibition then pick up the trail inspired by her work and explore colour in our fourth floor gallery.
Available until - 5 May 2008
Family Trails are FREE, special family ticket to the exhibition £10
