The Beatles first hit the world stage a staggering 50 years ago and are still very much well known and respected today.

Liverpool holds an annual event attracting an international audience to pay tribute to the fab four over the August bank holiday weekend. This is attended by thousands of Beatles fans, were they get the chance to commemorate the success of the most famous band in the history of pop music.

Liverpool also homes a number of Beatles themed attractions which each create a fascining insite into the lives of John, Paul, Ringo and George. The Beatles Story, Mendips & Forthlin Road and The Magical Mystery Tour are all exciting attractions telling the story of how BeatleMania evolved and the highlights along the way.

The Beatles greatest hits album 'Beatles 1', released on November 2000, sold almost 30 million copies worldwide, topped the album chart in 30 countries and was certified platinum over 100 times.

The Beatles sold more singles in the UK than any other group with 20.8 million sales.

The Beatles music is the most downloaded music on the Internet.

The Beatles are as popular today as they were at the height of BeatleMania - in print, on DVD and CD.

1963 their song 'She Loves You' was the biggest hit in UK history and remained so until it was overtaken by 'Mull of Kintrye' by Sir Paul McCartney and Wings in 1977.
