Shortlisted for The Mersey Partnership Annual Tourism Award: Small Tourism Business of the Year 2006/07

Located within Liverpool’s historic Albert Dock, the Beatles Story is a unique visitor attraction that transports you on an enlightening and atmospheric journey into the life, times, culture and music of the Beatles.

See how four young lads from Liverpool were propelled into the dizzy heights of worldwide fame and fortune to become the greatest band of all time. Hear the story unfold through the “Living History” audio guide narrated by John Lennon’s sister, Julia, available in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Polish, Russian and Japanese. A Mandarin version will be available Spring 2007.

Your journey begins at Woolton Village Fete, where Paul McCartney tells you how he first met John Lennon. You can even view some of the original instruments played by John and his Skiffle band then hang out at the Casbah Coffee Club.

Fast forward three years and you are walking along the cobbled streets of Hamburg, Germany to watch John, Paul, George, Stuart and Pete play as the Beatles at the Star Club.

A quick hop back to Liverpool and you are in the Cavern Club at the height of the Merseybeat era, listening to recollections from the Cavern Club regulars.

London is your next stop with a behind the scenes look at Abbey Road Studios, hearing how George Martin almost rejected the Beatles before jetting off to the USA and the hysteria of Beatlemania.

Phew! Now chill out and relax in the mellow madness of the psychedelic era. Discover the history behind the groundbreaking Sgt. Pepper album before embarking on an underwater experience in the Yellow Submarine.

Finally explore the break-up of the band, the role they played in the overthrow of the Soviet Union, their solo projects and the everlasting legacy of the Beatles.

Other key highlights include:

- John Lennon’s iconic round spectacles
- Brian Epstein describing his first impressions of the Beatles
- George Harrison’s first ever guitar
- The world’s only ‘blue’ White Album
- A never before heard interview with Paul McCartney
- The emotional and evocative White Room

The Beatles Story has recently announced that it is planning a major expansion programme, which will more than double existing floor space to provide new exhibition areas and vastly improved visitor facilities.
The planned extension will include;

* Rooms celebrating the solo careers of George and Ringo, in response to the wishes of many visitors

* A "hands-on" interactive Children's Learning Centre - this is part of the Beatles Story's commitment to life-long learning and will greatly enhance the visitor experience for both school groups and families.

* A "family friendly" version of the Living History audio guide

* A new temporary exhibition space to host themed changing exhibitions throughout the year

* A cafe and relaxation area to complete the experience.
