Everton - The People's Club, has been at the forefront of English football ever since the club was formed in 1878.
The St Domingo School was opened in May 1870 and eight
years later the football team using the name played its first match in the south-east corner of Stanley Park.
St Domingo's FC quickly established a local reputation for themselves and players were recruited from outside of the parish, however in November 1879 they changed their name to EVERTON.
In 1883 Everton moved to Anfield (home of Liverpool Football Club) however after a dispute over rent in 1892 the Everton committee decided to move again to Mere Green Field (what became Goodison Park), rather than pay the increased rate.
Get a glimpse behind the scenes on the Goodison Park Stadium Tour, home of Everton, the club that commands the hearts of the blue half of the city. Walk down the tunnel to the roar of 40,000 fans, and see where your favourite player sits in the dressing room.
"Once Everton has touched you nothing will be the same"
Alan Ball, World Cup Winner 1966
"Ladies and gentlemen today we are joined by a man who ranks amongst the greatest there is, Shakespeare, Rembrandt and Bach, this man is Dixie Dean"
Bill Shankly on Dixie Dean.
