Getting to Liverpool is easy. The city is a premier visitor destination with excellent global and national transport connections.
Air
There are numerous flights to Liverpool John Lennon Airport which is only seven miles from the city centre, with good travel links into the city and across the region. The new KLM service between Schiphol, Amsterdam and Liverpool connects the City Region with more than 750 worldwide destinations.
Rail
Getting to Liverpool by train is the easiest and most environmentally friendly way. The mainline train station, Liverpool Lime Street, is ideally located in the very heart of the city centre, and you can travel to Liverpool on a direct high-speed Virgin train from London in just over two hours. You can use trains to get around Liverpool City Region too. The local rail provider is Merseyrail (part of Merseytravel).
Road
Bus
Bus travel is a green, convenient and cost-effective way of getting to Liverpool and Liverpool City Region. The bus network is managed by Merseytravel, with two main city centre bus terminals and travel centres at Liverpool ONE and Queen Square.
Car
If you want to travel to Liverpool by car, Liverpool City Region has an extensive road network which is easy to navigate. To travel to the Wirral Peninsula use one of the Mersey tunnels, while there is a scenic coastal road up to Southport. The Silver Jubilee Bridge in Runcorn crosses the River Mersey to provide easy road access to Halton. Knowsley and St.Helens are both only a short drive from the city centre too.
Car Parking:
Liverpool ONE has three new car parks: Q-Park Strand Street with 2,000 underground spaces, Q-Park Gradwell Street with 560 multi-storey spaces and Q-Park John Lewis with 580 multi-storey spaces.
Sea
You can always get to Liverpool by sea. Arrive in style aboard one of the many cruise ships that call at the City of Liverpool Cruise Terminal. To get to the Wirral Peninsula, take a trip on the world famous Ferry across the Mersey. You can catch the Mersey Ferry to both Seacombe and Woodside Ferry Terminals from the new Pier Head Ferry Terminal in Liverpool and enjoy breathtaking views of the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Waterfront along the way.
