Previously owned by the Barons of Halton and the Dukes of Lancaster, the Castle is now run by Norton Priory and is designated a Grade I Listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
Tours and family activities will take place at Halton Castle, with free entry to Norton Priory.
The Castle will be open Sat 13 & Sun 14 September 12pm – 3pm
Please note Norton Priory will be open from 12pm – 6pm
Guided tours of the castle (approx 15 people per tour) will run throughout the afternoon. Themed hands-on activities for families and Refreshments are available at the Norton Priory café and at the Castle Pub by the Castle.
Parking is available at Norton Priory, with a shuttle bus between the two sites.
The shuttle buses are suitable for wheelchairs.
There is no parking at Halton Castle for this event.
Although most of the path around the castle is wheelchair accessible, there is rough and uneven ground at Halton Castle, particularly around the castle walls.
Norton Priory is fully wheelchair accessible.

Norton Priory Museum and Gardens is less than 30 minutes by car from Chester, Liverpool and Manchester. From M56, Junction 11, turn for Warrington and follow the Norton Priory signs. From all other directions follow the “All other Runcorn Traffic” and then the Norton Priory signs.Parking is available at Norton Priory, with a free shuttle bus running to Halton Castle at regular intervals.
