Sensazione
6 - 10 August
St Georges Plateau
Free to roam, the attractions of this theatrical fairground need your physical energy, enthusiasm and imagination.
Time Circus and Laika seek interaction between performers and spectators and believe that theatre can pull down boundaries between them.
Sensazione by Time Circus and Laika supported by CC MUZE & Circo Paradiso, Theater festival Boulevard, Nationale Loterij.
The Emperor and the Tiger
1 August
Presented by Liverpool Culture Company for ‘08 Walk the Plank and Kinetika join forces with Brouhaha and local performers to present a beautiful folk story.
As a giant tiger paces through the park, fire illuminates costumed carnival dancers and drummers, and firework effects light up the forest.
The greedy Emperor wants his taxes, and the people must pay. An original soundtrack and magical special effects animate this colourful tale of the Emperor, the Wise Man, and the Guardian of the Jungle - before the firework finale lights up the skies.
Originally commissioned by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.
Liverpool Children's Festival
An imaginary city mysteriously appears to transform Liverpool’s historical cultural quarter. Featuring a host of performances and workshops, this annual festival was the original idea of Liverpool’s Young Culture Action Group, when Liverpool was bidding to be European Capital of
Culture.
Through performance and visual art activities the festival celebrates the culturally diverse heritage of Liverpool. In ‘08, expect several surprises that will stretch and stimulate your imagination.
