Liverpool Children's Festival

Liverpool Young Culture Action Group will be presenting a Community Showcase Day - Liverpools Children's Festival - in St Georges Hall on Sunday, August 10th, 11am- 4.30pm

Liverpool Young Culture Action Group will be presenting Liverpool Children's Festival, "The Imaginary City" on August 8, 11.30- 4pm on William Brown Street, St Georges Hall, St John's gardens, The World Museum, The Walker Art Gallery and Central Library.

The inhabitants of Liverpool’s secret (and mysterious) twin city ‘Roopville’ who come in all colours, shapes and sizes, have a variety of unusual abilities and think that they are the most fantastic example (in the entire Universe) of how to live together in peace and harmony, will appear in Liverpool City Centre’s Museums District on 8th August 2008 for 1 day only.

The Mayor of Roopville - and his bossy wife, will bring their lively and bustling city to life, statues will become animated and other incredible creatures will step out of brick work and up through cracks in the pavement to take Liverpool’s children on a journey of experiences that excites and exposes them to a diverse range of creative activity, igniting a passion for the arts and inspiring them to become the artists and audiences of the future – watch out though, some-one may be out to spoil the day, things may not go according to the Mayor’s plans and it could be, that its Liverpool’s inhabitants who are the ones that eventually shine out in this wonderful and imaginative celebration of uniqueness.

On 10th August Liverpool’s communities will provide a pre-view by showcasing the talents of its young people with a programme of performances throughout the day in St George’s Hall between 11am and 4pm.
