Home / Sudley House
Experience the charmed life of a wealthy Victorian merchant family at Sudley House, home of the magnificent art collection of ship owner George Holt. The house reopened on 26 May 2007 following a two-year £1 million refurbishment. Improvements include a new ground floor introductory display telling visitors about the fascinating history of the house plus a new temporary exhibition gallery on the first floor. A listed sandstone mansion, it is set in the heart of suburban Liverpool and contains the only art collection of a Victorian merchant still in its original domestic setting. Work on display includes stunning paintings by Gainsborough, Turner, Reynolds, Romney, Landseer, Millais and Holman Hunt.
