Victoria Gallery & Museum

Exterior shot

In July 2008 the University will open the Victoria Gallery and Museum on Brownlow Hill. This £7.5m project brings into public use the Victoria Building, designed by Alfred Waterhouse and opened in 1892. It features an impressive clock tower, and an exterior decorated with terracotta moulding. The inside has a rich variety of tiled surfaces and diverse stonework. The Victoria Gallery and Museum will provide fully accessible galleries to showcase the University's diverse collections. For the first time the public will be able to see items from the University's museum object collections. Some of the collections will be displayed simply because they are amazing and beautiful - others because they are amazingly hideous!
