Home > What to Do in Liverpool City Region > Voirrey Embroidery Centre
When Voirrey Branthwaite opened a small embroidery shop in the 12th century Crypt of Brimstage Hall in September 1983, she can surely have had no idea that it would develop into one of the largest and finest Centres in Britain, and that she would become Merseyside Business Woman of the Year.
The concept of a large out-of-town needlework Centre was quite unique in Britain and with an estimated 1/4 million visitors a year, in 1995 it was awarded a Special Mersey Tourism Award in recognition of the excellence of the Centre. In 1999 it was awarded Best Marketing Plan and in 2000 the North West Tourist Board Silver Award for Tourism Marketing.
Still at the forefront of the industry, renowned locally, nationally and even internationally for it's uniqueness, Voirrey Embroidery remains one of the finest needlework Centres in Britain. The Centre is attractively situated in the heart of rural Wirral, in converted sandstone farm buildings only 1 mile from the nearest motorway. It holds a vast range of stock, holds different monthly exhibitions and hosts numerous needlework workshops.
