Opened as a charity school in 1717 the Bluecoat is a thriving centre for contemporary arts in the centre of Liverpool. Architecturally the building's principle elevations are a fine example of the Queen Anne period and are the oldest in the cityto remain intact and unaltered. The National Heritage Open Days weekend (11th - 14th September 2008) will see the launch of an interpretation of the building's heritage by a group of artists called 'Tea' (from the 13th September) and will remain until the end of the Liverpool City Region Heritage Open Days.
