The Echo Arena stands at the heart of the development of Kings Dock on Liverpool Waterfront, next to the Grade I listed Albert Dock. This iconic building is a stunning example of how well Liverpool blends the new with the old.
Since opening in January 2008, the Echo Arena has welcomed a number of famous names including Elton John, One Direction, Lady GaGa, Beyonce, Calvin Harris and local legend, Paul McCartney. The arena was also the host venue for the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards and the 2010 MOBO Awards.
The Echo Arena falls just outside the boundary of the 10 largest arenas in the UK, at eleventh. But who wants to be up in the rafters thousands of metres away from their favourite music star? The arena is also one of the most sustainable venues in Europe and a crop of turbines on the famous River Mersey contribute to its electricity supply!
The arena is just a short walk from a large selection of Liverpool City Centre hotels, and the nearest train station is James Street, just two ‘stops’ from Liverpool’s main train station, Lime Street.
While you’re visiting the Echo Arena, you’ll see more than just what you paid for; take the time to soak up some of the stunning maritime history that surrounds this modern development. It’s worth taking some time to explore the area as there is lots to see and do.
