67-17: 50 Summers of Love

Liverpool will host 67-17: 50 Summers of Love; a season of events and performances inspired by the golden anniversary of the Summer of Love between May and August 2017. 1967 saw some of the biggest cultural shifts of a generation and the moment the avant-garde forced its way into the mainstream. Liverpool played a big part, it being the year Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band was released, The Mersey Sound poetry anthology was published, the Metropolitan Cathedral was opened and homosexuality was decriminalised in the UK.

• Tonight at Noon
  12 April - 15 July 2017
  A series of events and exhibitions are to take place in Liverpool to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the most influential poetry anthologies of all time.

• LightNight Liverpool
  19 May 2017
  You, your friends and your family are invited to explore Liverpool as our world-class galleries, museums and public spaces stay open late for a free showcase of the city’s arts and culture.

• Liverpool Sound City
  25 - 27 May 2017
  This year the 10th anniversary of the festival will host four days of festivities to mark its special birthday with four headline acts joined by a number of artists.   

• International Mersey River Festival
  23 - 25 June 2017
  A celebration of Liverpool's wonderful and historic waterfront in a completely free three day extravaganza of family fun, amazing music and entertainment along the iconic River Mersey.

• Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) 2017
  21 - 23 July 2017
  LIMF Summer Jam - the free Sefton Park element of the festival which sees household names and up and coming acts perform – takes place annually in July.
