We were recently invited to the grand reopening of Liverpool’s Botanical Garden. You can find the hidden gin-filled gem in the Baltic Triangle, tucked away on New Bird Street.

Despite the cold weather when we visited, we had a great time trying an array of cocktails and amazing food from Oktopus. If you like your food and drink a little different to the norm then this place should definitely be at the top of your list!

Renowned for being a top spot to visit when the sun is shining, the Botanical Garden proves it is a bar suitable for all of our unpredictable British weather. We sat in the cosy indoor greenhouse and tried the ‘Hot Gin Roof’, a perfect drink to warm you up if it’s cold outside. During warmer days, the garden area is packed out due to it being an all-day suntrap, so best to get down there as quick as you can to soak up the sun and enjoy the rays.

Sunnier mornings only mean one thing ..we are coming #summer #liverpool #gin #cocktails

Oktopus provides the street food on site this year, the stall is tucked away in the right hand corner serving up an array of fried and fresh seafood bites from soft shell Crab Burger with Sriracha Sour Cream and pickled red cabbage to popcorn mussels. We tried the crispy buttermilk fried chicken strips dressed with pickled cucumbers, crushed roast peanuts in a honey and harissa sauce, and accompanied with sweet potato fries… we can assure you there wasn't a crumb left!

We also discovered one very special drink… GIN IN A TIN! Game changing. No more fussing about what tonic you want, what glass you prefer, just crack open the tin and enjoy a refreshing burst of gin mixed with grapefruit.

The venue, which has opened for its fourth year, is decorated with an array of plants and blooming flowers, colourful wall art, twinkling fairy lights, warming fire pits along with boss tunes and a relaxing atmosphere.

Botanical Garden is truly unique space and is a perfect place to impress your friends, your date or even your parents! You’ll find yourself coming back here whatever the weather.
