Visiting Liverpool doesn’t mean you have to break the bank to do it. There are so many things to do in our city that are free or super cheap so you can explore all our culture whilst also watching the pennies!

We have put together an itinerary that covers accommodation, food and activities for two people over two nights in Liverpool all for £500! You can follow it to a T or just use it for some inspiration but whatever you decide you’ll find plenty to do however you want to spend your budget.

WHERE TO STAY


When you visit a new city, you want to stay somewhere that’ll make you feel like you’re really experiencing the place like a local. There are some amazing hotels in Liverpool, all with their own character. For this blog we’ve chosen Lock & Key, but check out our accommodation page for more recommendations.

LOCK & KEY

PRICE: Avg. £70 per night (2 night stay = £140)

Lock and Key is a boutique hotel set within a Grade-II listed Georgian townhouse in the heart of Liverpool city centre, perfect for exploring everything the city has to offer! Each room has been individually created in partnership with designers House of Sloane. All rooms display botanical wallpapers from design outfit Mind The Gap and House of Hackney, with deep anthracite woodwork and elegant brass accents. Bespoke velvet headboards, cocktail chairs and drinks trolleys evoke a whimsical, fin-du-siecle mood.


DAY ONE


BREAKFAST - LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR

PRICE: £20

Love Thy Neighbour is a Hatton Garden favourite and a super relaxing place to grab your breakfast! Their menu contains favourites such as full English breakfast as well as specials such as Buddha Bowls and large plates!

  • We recommend: Smashed avocado and smoked tomato sandwich


MORNING ACTIVITY - ROYAL LIVER BUILDING 360

PRICE: £30 (x2 adult tickets)

After enjoying your breakfast, it’s time to head to Liverpool’s iconic Royal Liver Building. Here you’ll be able to enjoy 360 degree views across the city and Irish Sea, as well as enjoying a stunning visual audio experience within the clock tower. It really has to be seen to be believed!

After you’ve enjoyed your tour of the Royal Liver Building, why not stay in the area and admire Liverpool’s Three Graces (Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building and Port of Liverpool Building). You’ll also find the famous Beatles Statue here - make sure you bring your camera to get a selfie.

  • Top tip: Bring some extra money to buy a special Royal Liver Building 360 themed souvenir - we’d recommend at least £20.


LUNCH - DOCKSIDE DINING CLUB

PRICE: £18 (x2 pizza + beer deal)

Located a short 5 minute walk away from the Royal Liver Building you’ll find Dockside Dining Club - an independent food and drink market serving up tasty street food and local beers!

At Dockside Dining Club you’ll find vendors such as Cowfish Smokehouse (authentic smoked BBQ food), DOUGH (delicious pizza) and Crepe and Co (crepes to die for). The vendors are always changing, so that means there is always something new to try - check out their website before your visit to see what’s getting served up.

  • We recommend: DOUGH serve a delicious pizza of your choice with side salad, chips and a beer (soft drink also available) for just £9!


AFTERNOON ACTIVITY - 1. THE BEATLES STORY

PRICE: £45 (x2 adult ticketsand bucket of beers)

Now that you’ve managed a pit stop, it’s time to get back to all the action. No trip to Liverpool would be complete without learning about the Beatles, trust us! There’s no better way to find out everything you need to know about the four famous lads from Liverpool then heading to The Beatles Story located within the Royal Albert Dock.

Replicas of the Casbah, Mathew Street and The Cavern authentically capture the early 60s, allowing you to personally experience the very places that helped make The Beatles the greatest band in the world.

  • We recommend: At the end of the experience stop off in the Fab4 Cafe and enjoy a bucket of local beers for £11 - Crosby Fab 4, Sitting on the Dock and Liverpool Lights.


AFTERNOON ACTIVITY - 2. OPEN TOP TOUR BUS

PRICE: £24 (x2 adult tickets)

After getting to know everything about the Beatles, it’s time to get to know everything about the city! The best way to learn about and see the beauty of the city. The Liverpool City Sights Tour Bus hosts a 50 minute guided tour of the city in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin. Your ticket is valid for 24 hours and the bus is ‘hop on, hop off!’ meaning you can use it as much as you like in that time period.

  • We recommend: Grab a map when you get on-board as it contains offers in some of the city’s best bars and restaurants, as well as a free glass of bubbly at the Philharmonic pub!


EVENING MEAL - FESTIVAL FOOD AND DRINK

PRICE: £30 (x2 Scouse plus drinks)

After enjoying your afternoon activities it’s now time to tuck into some food! Our pick for the evening is Festival Food and Drink, located on the world famous Mathew Street, facing the Cavern Club.

This is a unique place to eat because the venue is split into two different themes - ‘Glamping’ and ‘Food Puns’. A fusion of Brasilian tastes and rhythms together with a blend of Liverpool humour and music history come together to celebrate the world’s greatest festivals.

  • We recommend: You can’t visit Liverpool without trying our famous dish, Scouse! Slow cooked prime beef with mixed vegetables and potatoes. Served with beetroot, pickled red cabbage and crusty bread - delicious!


EVENING ACTIVITY - MATHEW STREET AND THE CAVERN CLUB

PRICE: £60

Liverpool is famous for its nightlife and the best place to start is Mathew Street, home to the Cavern Club. On this famous street you’ll find places such as SGT Peppers, Flares Liverpool, Cavern Pub and The Grapes Pub!

  • Top tip: Look out for the statues of John Lennon and Cilla Black - you don’t want to miss getting your photo with them! Mathew Street is also home to the Magical Beatles Museum.

DAY TWO


BREAKFAST - LEAF ON BOLD STREET

PRICE: £20

You *may* have a sore head from last night, so a good breakfast in definitely needed! For today’s breakfast you’ll be heading to LEAF on Bold Street. A unique, independent cafe famed for its range of teas, LEAF offer an extensive menu for breakfast. From light options such as granary toast to smoked salmon & scrambled eggs, this will certainly set you up for the day!

  • We recommend: The Big Bold St Breakfast - it’s delicious!


MORNING ACTIVITY - SHOPPING

PRICE: £20

You can certainly shop til’ you drop in Liverpool! For the latest luxury fashion head to Metquarter, home to stores such as HUGO BOSS, Mococo, MAC, Kids Cavern and Jo Malone.

If you’re looking for high-street brands, head to Liverpool ONE where you’ll find John Lewis & Partners, Apple, JD Sports, Adidas, Topshop and so many more!

Liverpool's Church Street and Lord Street is home to stores such as River Island, Marks and Spencer, the world's LARGEST Lush and a huge H&M.

  • Top tip: You definitely have to head to Lush - it's the largest in the world!


LUNCH - THE CLUB HOUSE

PRICE: £35 (x2 hanging kebabs and soft drinks)

Sun, Sea and Sand await at The Club House Liverpool ONE! A slice of the Hamptons in the heart of the city. A timeless getaway for those in the know. The kind of place with a choice collection of gins; beers and ales are shipped in from around the world, and a menu that's more like a banquet.

  • We recommend: Try the famous 'Hanging Kebabs' - they're absoloutely delicious and come in a range of options (chicken, salt and pepper pork, halloumi and falafel, tandori cod and king prawn & lamb kofta).


AFTERNOON ACTIVITY - 1. MUSEUM OF LIVERPOOL

PRICE: FREE

Did you read that right, FREE? Liverpool is home to more museums and galleries outside of London than any other city, most of them free!

The Museum of Liverpool is the first museum dedicated to a UK city and explores how elements such as music, sport, industry, war and maritime have made Liverpool the city it is today.

On the top floor of the museum you will find Double Fantasy: John and Yoko. This exhibition tells the story of John Lennon and Yoko Ono in their own words and was curated by Yoko herself.

  • Top tip: The museum has a great gift shop with lots of Liverpool inspired souviners to take home with you, so think about any cash you may need to spend!


AFTERNOON ACTIVITY - 2. MERSEY FERRY

PRICE: £22 (x2 River Explorer Cruise tickets)

See the best views of the Liverpool Waterfront on the world famous Mersey Ferry with their 50-minute River Explorer Cruise. Guided by expert commentary throughout the cruise you can sit back, relax and take in the captivating views of the UNESCO World Heritage waterfront. River Explorer Cruise tickets also include admission to U-boat Story at Woodside terminal.

  • Top tip: Make sure you bring your camera to capture those stunning watefront views! Also, make sure you jump off at Woodside to check out the U-Boat Story!


EVENING MEAL - SANTA MALUCO

PRICE: £30

Think... ALL YOU CAN EAT PIZZA! 

Rodízio is an ‘all you can eat’ style of restaurant service common in Brazil. AtSanta Maluco you will pay a ‘preço fixo’ and the servers will bring samples of pizza to each at several times throughout the meal, until you signal that you've had enough.

Pizzas are both sweet and savoury so anyone still hungry can sample the home made dessert pizzas. Full pizza's are also available to purchase.

  • We reccomend: We love the 'Jamaican Me Stormy' - Rum & Fresh Lime topped with Ginger Beer. Be careful, they're quite addictive!


EVENING ACTIVITY - LIVERPOOL'S BALTIC TRIANGLE

PRICE: £50

It's time to enjoy your last evening in Liverpool and there's no better place than visiting Liverpool's Baltic Triangle for some drinks!

The Baltic Triangle; once the well-worn factory and workshop of the city back in the slave trade of the 1800s, now a thriving and cutting-edge destination that is at the heart of Liverpool’s independent scene. You'll find quirky bars, huge food markets and the odd secret drinking spot.
