Pokemon Go - What not to miss

Calling all Pokémon GO trainers! If you’re heading to Liverpool this April for the Pokémon GO Safari Zone, here’s all you need to know and what not to miss in Liverpool.

The event will take place in Liverpool’s Grade I listed, 235-acre Sefton Park. Sefton Park is located in Aigburth, just a short journey from Liverpool City Centre.

You can reach Sefton Park easily by public transport from the city centre via Merseyrail. Board the Hunts Cross bound train from Moorfields or Liverpool Central Station to St Michaels and take a short walk along the lively Lark Lane.

You can also reach the park via the bus from Queens Square Bus Station

Whilst you’re in Liverpool, it would be a shame not to explore everything else the city has to offer! We’ve picked out some of our favourite places to eat, drink, explore & experience and listed them below.

THINGS TO DO - THE ICONIC AND UNMISSABLES

FERRY ‘CROSS THE MERSEY

Whatever your reason for visiting Liverpool, no trip to the city is complete without a trip on the world famous Mersey Ferry. A blustery trip on the water offers the best views of the city’s iconic skyline.

Sing along to the tune made famous by Gerry and the Pacemakers and take some of the best selfies.

ROYAL LIVER BUILDING 360

A beacon for the city, the Royal Liver Building is the landmark most associated with Liverpool. The first ever skyscraper, it offers an incredible viewing platform across the city and beyond.

The RLB360 experience includes a tour of the building that begins on the brand-new lower ground floor visitor centre. You’ll meet your tour guide and be taken to the 10th floor balcony under the famous clock. You’ll then climb on foot to the historic clock-tower to watch an immersive audio-visual show.

The grand finale is the 15th floor. Here you’ll stand just beneath Bella and Bertie, the city's Liver Birds and enjoy panoramic views across the city, the Mersey and beyond.

ANOTHER PLACE

Have you ever seen 100 cast-iron sculptures, on a beach, almost 3km out to sea? No? Then head to Antony Gormley’s Another Place on Crosby Beach, a short train journey from Liverpool City Centre on the Merseyrail. The beach is a non-bathing beach, featuring sand dunes and is popular with dog walkers. If you’re lucky, you may see a cargo ship passing which is quite a surreal view.

THE PALM HOUSE

The historic Victorian glass house is located within Sefton Park, where the Safari Zone is taking place. Inside you’ll find plants from all over the world that are grown and looked after by Colin, the Botanic Gardener who has been at the Palm House for 25 years!

THE ROYAL ALBERT DOCK

The Royal Albert Dock is the largest collection of Grade I listed buildings in the UK and one of the prettiest places in Liverpool. It has striking red pillars that are decorated in fairy lights, little boats dotted about, original paned windows and museums & restaurants aplenty.

Explore Tate Liverpool, the Merseyside Maritime Museum, The Beatles Story and check out the Liverpool Mountain whilst you’re there.

You might even catch some splashy water-type Pokemon down there, you never know!

LIVERPOOL CATHEDRAL

Located in the city centre, Liverpool Cathedral is Britain’s biggest cathedral and the fifth largest in Europe. It has magnificent stained glass windows, a Tracey Emin artwork, a cafe serving some of the best Scouse, a tower tour and throughout April and May visitors can see the ‘Peace Doves’ installation. The Peace Doves is an art project with internationally-renowned sculptor and artist Peter Walker.

The cathedral is free to enter. The tower tour is a paid-for-activity which can be pre-booked.

LIVERPOOL ONE

If you’re after a place to shop then head over to Liverpool ONE for all your favourite high street stores. From Topshop to Zara, Next, LFC Store, Everton Two and loads more there are plenty of places to shop. There is also a whole host of bars and restaurants on the terrace to explore post-shopping trip.

CAVERN CLUB

A trip to Liverpool must include a visit to the most famous club in the world, The Cavern Club. Head down into the basement to explore the club that turned The Beatles into the biggest band in the world. Dance along to one of the acts on stage or just grab a drink and sit amongst the musical history.
