Now that lockdown measures are beginning to ease and we can start exploring our city a bit more, why not head to a local independent business to show them some support. We know they would definitely appreciate it! 

There’s everything from bakeries to bookstores, vintage stores and local clothing brands opening their doors to shoppers with special social distancing measures in place to keep everyone safe.

Get ready to fall in love with Liverpool’s independent shops! 


FOOD & DRINK


MATTA’S


Matta’s on Bold Street is a favourite place to shop for locals after fresh high quality ingredients  from around the world. They have loads of spices, herbs, fruit and vegetables and store cupboard essentials for you to cook up a storm in the kitchen. 


HOMEBAKED


You can’t beat a fresh, home baked pie, especially the ones from Homebaked Bakery in Anfield. Right next to the home of the Reds, this community-owned bakery has been serving pre-match pies to football go-ers since 2013. You don’t have to be heading to the football to taste their delights though. Use their Click & Collect service for everything from a Scouse pie to mushroom & brandy, chicken & vegetable, the ‘Klopp Pie’ and even a nod to those at the other side of the park, ‘The Blue Pie’. 


ROUGH HANDMADE


Rough Handmade is boutique bakery on the Royal Albert Dock and the perfect place to pick up some freshly baked bread and pastries, it’s a treat for all the senses. Wait until you see the croissants! 

To make sure picking up your baked treats is safe, they have introduced social distancing floor markers, spaced their benches 2 metres apart and covered their displays for protection. 


THE ART SCHOOL EMPORIUM OF FOOD & WINE


Renowned chef Paul Askew, founder of The Art School, has opened up a new Emporium of Gourmet Food & Fine Wine at the Art School Cellars for you to buy all of your favourite produce the restaurant uses themselves. From fine wine to charcuterie, truffle honey and a series of prepared takeaway boxes, you’ll be able to experience The Art School from the comfort of your home.    


LUNYA


Find Lunya on Hanover Street at Liverpool ONE for a whole host of spanish delights. The Catalonian deli has everything from wine, fresh meat and charcuterie, baked goods, cheeses, vegetables and loads more! 


DELIFONSECA 


Delifonseca in Brunswick is the perfect place to pick up some beautiful deli items. They have everything from fresh fish, meat and vegetables to store cupboard essentials, cheeses, frozen meals, fine wine and lots of local brands too! 


THE BAGELRY 


For fresh bagels and incredible doughnuts you’re going to want to head to The Bagerly on Nelson Street for your weekend treat. Trust us when we say they are amazing!


GENERAL


RED BRICK VINTAGE


Head over to The Baltic Triangle to explore Red Brick Vintage. Their giant warehouse has everything from vintage clothes, furniture, records and everything in between. You’ll definitely find something in here to take home with you. 


69A


69A on Renshaw Street is a treasure trove of vintage items and antiques. Having been trading since the 1970s they are a Liverpool institution so you know they will have an eye for a good bargain. 


UTILITY


Born out of a small showroom on Bold Street, Utility has been providing incredible design since 1999. From furniture to lighting, homeware, gifts and stationary Utility is a staple shop on Liverpool’s highstreet and with two venues in the city there’s all the more to explore. 


NEWS FROM NOWHERE


If you’re after a new book then the place to go is News From Nowhere on Bold Street. The not-for-profit radical and community bookshop is run collectively by women workers providing books from every genre you can think of and are always happy to help you find what you’re looking for. 


RENNIES


Rennies on Bold Street is the place to go for every kind of art supply you could possibly need. From canvas, paint, pencils, paint brushes and everything else you can think of, they have it. The staff are also really helpful and help you pick out everything you need for your latest craft project. 


THE NEST


Head to The Nest on the Royal Albert Dock on your next trip around the Dock to discover arts and crafts by local artists. There's everything from prints, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and all sorts of other items for you to take home. 


MERSEYMADE


Find Merseymade right next to Liverpool ONE on Paradise Street and discover arts and crafts by some of the region's best creatives. You'll find everything from gin, jewellery, artwork, clothings, prints, ceramics and so much more in this creative hub. 


PROBE RECORDS


If you’re after some new music to add to your collection then head over to Probe Records on School Lane by the Bluecoat. They’ve been supplying people of Liverpool with new music for over 40 years so they definitely know what they are doing when it comes to providing the soundtrack to your summer. 


ROOT HOUSEPLANTS


If you’re looking to add a bit of plant life to your house then we would recommend having a look at Root Houseplants at The Bluecoat. The contemporary house plant shop stocks unique, healthy and affordable plant babies you can take home and look after. They even give you a personalised guide on how to look after your new house guest too!

RESURRECTION


Head to Bold Street for some vintage fashion shopping at Resurrection. Dig through the rails to see what you can find in one of Liverpool’s most popular fashion haunts. If you head upstairs you can check out Dig Vinyl too for the latest release or a classic record. 


COW


Cow on Bold Street is known for its sustainable vintage finds and big brands. Have a look through the rails for one of a kind vintage, handmade reworked garments and well known reclaimed brands to add to your wardrobe this summer.  


LOST SOLES


Known for its unique graphic prints, Lost Soles on the Royal Albert Dock stocks a whole host of t-shirts and other men’s clothing with a range of in store exclusives and re-releases of sold-out favourites. It’s a great little shop to pop into!


POP BOUTIQUE


If you’ve got a passion for fashion head to Pop Boutique on Bold Street. Having been around since the 80s, Pop Boutique knows a thing or two about vintage fashion and you’ll no doubt find something cool and quirky to add to your wardrobe in here.


LEATHER SATCHEL CO.


The UK’s oldest satchel maker, The Leather Satchel Co. have been making their beautiful handcrafted unique leather satchels for over 50 years and have a shop right on the Royal Albert Dock. Head over to browse their selection of accessories for a special treat.
