Who’s for a scone, sandwiches and tea then?

Today, we thank the seventh Duchess of Bedford, Anna Russel for the delightful tradition of Afternoon Tea. During the Victorian Times, the evening meal was served fashionably late in the Duchess’ home at 8pm. At around 4pm, the Duchess would become hungry and requested that a tray of tea, bread & butter and cake be brought to her room in the later afternoon. This became a habit and the Duchess began inviting friends to join her. Here, afternoon tea was born.

These days, afternoon tea comes in all shapes and sizes. From the traditional to the elaborate, edgy and boozy, whatever the occasion there will be a venue in Liverpool to suit all your afternoon tea needs.

MALMAISON

Get together at Malmaison on Liverpool’s stunning waterfront for an equally beautiful afternoon tea. You can choose from the classic cream tea or go for the whole Mal afternoon tea which includes everything from sandwiches, mini burgers, wraps, scones, cakes, fruit shakes and your choice of teas. You can even go all out and upgrade to their Champagne afternoon tea too.

OH ME OH MY

OH ME OH MY is a bit of a hidden gem in Liverpool. Their rooftop views looking out over The Strand with the backdrop of the Royal Liver Building is a view not to miss! Aside from the incredible views, their afternoon tea is also worth trying. With plenty of options to pick from, their seasonal menu offers everything from a selection of sandwiches, beautiful cakes and jam and cream scones.

They are currently only operating their Afternoon tea on select days so we would advise contacting them in advance for booking availability.
