So, if you don’t know where to start on exploring, we’ve put together a list of all of our wonderful museums and galleries, complete with social distancing measures so even if you’re a regular culture go-er or have never been before you’ll know exactly what to expect.

THE WORLD MUSEUM
Blast off to the World Museum at St George’s Quarter with the whole family in tow and rediscover this incredible museum full of fun and facts. Explore everything from Ancient Egypt, to the dinosaurs, beautiful aquariums and even our solar system in this family friendly museum. Brand new exhibition Doctor Who: Worlds of Wonder is opening at The World Museum from 27 May to 30 October.
WALKER ART GALLERY
The Walker Art Gallery holds a stunning collection of paintings, sculptures and decorative arts spanning over six hundred years! It’s home to works by Rubens, Rembrandt, Poussin and Gainsborough alongside the John Moore’s painting prize works and special exhibitions!
MUSEUM OF LIVERPOOL
The Museum of Liverpool at Pier Head is the perfect place to take the whole family to learn all about our city and what makes it such a wondrous place! Hop on board the overhead railway, learn about the Beatles and immerse yourself in our sporting history alongside special exhibitions.
The Wondrous Place Gallery has recently re-opened at the Museum of Liverpool where you can see items from Liverpool's stars of the screen including a costume worn by Jodie Comer in Killing Eve and a hat from Peaky Blinders.
TATE LIVERPOOL
Take a look around the home of British and international modern and contemporary art in the North at Tate Liverpool at the Royal Albert Dock. You can see artworks by Henri Matisse, Sarah Lucas, Mark Rothko, L.S Lowry and so many other beautiful works of art.
INTERNATIONAL SLAVERY MUSEUM
The International Slavery Museum at the Royal Albert Dock is the only one of it’s kind in the UK. The museum highlights the international importance of slavery, both in a historic and contemporary context. Through their work and exhibitions, they provide opportunities for greater awareness and understanding of the legacy of slavery today.
MARITIME MUSEUM
Submerge yourself in Liverpool’s historic seafaring past at the Maritime Museum. Located in the heart of the Royal Albert Dock, it’s in the ideal location for the whole family to learn about our world famous port. From boats, paintings, model ships, shipwrecked objects, uniforms and loads more to explore, it’s educational for everyone!
FACT
If you haven’t visited the Foundation for Art & Creative Technology, or FACT, for short, then add it to your list of things to do! Their art galleries are always worth exploring, you never know what you will find in there. Past exhibitions have featured rooms full of sand, 3D printers and lots of video art.
Their current exhibition Let The Song Hold us is open until 19 June and is free to visit.
LIVERPOOL BEATLES MUSEUM
Featuring over 1000 rare and authentic items from the Beatles lives and career, the Liverpool Beatles Museum is a treasure trove for any Beatles fan. Located on the legendary Mathew Street, the museum is a must visit to explore more of the Beatles legacy in Liverpool.
THE BEATLES STORY
The Beatles Story at The Royal Albert Dock is the world’s largest permanent exhibition purely devoted to telling the story of The Beatles’ rise to fame, lives and career. You’ll be able to literally walk through the timeline of Beatles history, from Hamburg to The Cavern Club, Abbey Road and the White Room, relive the lives of the biggest band in the world.
OUTPUT GALLERY
Find Output Gallery on Seel Street next to Kazimier Garden. The independent gallery works exclusively with creatives from or based in Merseyside through a series of free exhbitions and events. With a high turnover of exhibitions it means there is all the more reason to keep returning to see what is going on.
BLUECOAT
Bluecoat is Liverpool’s centre for contemporary arts and the oldest in the UK! The beautiful building in the heart of the city is home to a year-round programme of exhibitions, music, dance, literature, live art and heritage events. They also house several independent shops and a beautiful courtyard garden for relaxing.
You can catch their exhibition 'Ok! Cherub! in the courtyard until 5 June.
BRITISH MUSIC EXPERIENCE
The British Music Experience tells the story of British music over the decades through costumes, instruments, performance and memorabilia. Whilst The Beatles are obviously mentioned you can also learn all about bands like Queen, Oasis, David Bowie, Adele, The Spice Girls and Little Mix too!
WESTERN APPROACHES
Discover the amazing secret underground WWII bunker in Liverpool with Western Approaches. Playing a pivotal role in the Battle of Atlantic, you can walk through hidden rooms and discover the stories of the bunker that protected the secrets of the British Armed Forces.
OPEN EYE GALLERY
Find the Open Eye Photography Gallery at Mann Island of Liverpool’s Pier Head. Founded in 1977 the gallery is one of the UK’s leading photography spaces that showcases some incredible photography exhibitions, all for free!
OLD DOCK TOUR
Discover Liverpool’s revolutionary Old Dock - the world’s first commercial enclosed wet dock! The Old Dock has been carefully preserved underneath Liverpool ONE after being discovered in 2001 during excavations, see it for yourself!
WILLIAMSON ART GALLERY -
The Williamson Art Gallery is one of Wirral’s hidden gems. Just a stone's throw from the centre of Birkenhead, the gallery houses the largest public collection of Della Robbia pottery in the UK and is home to a host of internationally important paintings and works of art.
PORT SUNLIGHT MUSEUM
Discover more than a century of rich history at Port Sunlight Museum in the Wirral! The award-winning museum tells the story of ‘soap-king’ William Hesketh Lever and his vision for the Port Sunlight Village.
LADY LEVER ART GALLERY
