Liverpool Football Club has revolutionised its culinary offering with the opening of a restaurant at Anfield which is open to the general public seven days a week.
The Boot Room Restaurant is named after the famous Boot Room at Anfield. It was in this room a tradition began from the start of Bill Shankly’s tenure as manager, for the coaching staff to gather after matches and training, to discuss the match, the team and football in general.
Over time the Boot Room came to symbolise a tradition within Liverpool of building from within. It’s where younger members of the coaching staff were given a footballing education and many managers learnt their trade. From Shankly to Paisley, Fagan and later Ronnie Moran and Roy Evans, the tradition of collective institutional knowledge helped guide Liverpool to success after success.
The 230-cover eatery is situated under the iconic Kop stand and will be family-friendly, serving favourites including steaks, burgers, stone-baked pizzas and pasta dishes.
It is the first time the club has opened a restaurant which is open to the general public. It is open from 11am to 11pm every day of the week, except match days, with free secure parking available at the ground.
Anfield is easily accessible from all major routes into Liverpool.
The ground is only 3 miles from the city centre, 4 miles from the M62 and 7 miles from the end of the M57 and M58.
The ground is well signposted from the city centre. Weekday visitors to the club can park in either the Main Stand or the Centenary Stand car parks, except on mid-week match-days and subject to available spaces.
Public transport runs regular to Liverpool Anfield. (for more details see www.merseytravel.gov.uk)
From the City Centre you can take many buses that drop you off outside Anfield.
