About Emergence
Emergence is a sanctum within which to consider the dynamic interplay between order and chaos and the momentous role this plays in systems, life, the self and the entire universe. Every decision, every idea and in fact every thought comes from this narrow region where the disarray of chaos and the regiment of order endlessly fold into and out of one another. Turbulent and ever changing permutations enabling an imperative blurring of the lines that fosters innovation, creativity, understanding and ‘being’ itself.
The structure consists of 75 large mirror nodes covered on all surfaces with a mirror finish arranged into a cylindrical pavilion style structure with three entrances in a ‘Y’ formation, making entry and exit an easy flowing process, these entrances are all wheelchair accessible. The installation also contains a hearing loop to ensure the hard of hearing can tune in to the mesmerising soundtrack. Approx 10000 pixels are visible from inside and outside the installation and display a constantly evolving and mesmerising program of highly complex light patterns choreographed to the accompanying audio track which was created by the incredible ‘NYX: Electronic Drone Choir’.
An audio description of the piece is available for those with impaired vision. There is an Audio Loop installed in the piece so the hearing impaired can tune into the sound track. All doors into the structure have been designed to be wheel chair accessible.

How has Emergence been made sustainable?
The two main materials selected for the construction of Emergence were Stainless steel and Aluminium composite. The steel was chosen as it could form the main framework of the structure without needing any coatings to be applied, the raw stainless finish enabling the piece to be resistant to corrosion inherently, extending the life of the piece almost indefinitely and making it completely recyclable at it's end of life. We researched and sourced the Aluminium Composite from the sole manufacturer inside the UK meaning that the miles travelled for this product were significantly minimised. Additionally the plastic core of these mirror sheets contain a large proportion of recycled material and the aluminium faces are infinitely recyclable.
