A nine-day light festival featuring 11 installations from artists across Europe.

A nine day festival of light, colour and spectacle.

River of Light 2019 is now over. But we'll be back in 2020. 

Commissions sharing the theme of light will arrive across the city of Liverpool. They will be on display between 1 - 9 November 2019 across Liverpool's waterfront. 

  1. Globoscope
    Artist: Collectif Coin Venue: Liverpool Parish Church – Our Lady and St Nicholas An immersive sound and light journey unique.
  2. Spiders
    Artist: Group Laps Venue: Cunard Building Spiders are invading one of the most iconic buildings in the city.
  3. Cetus
    Artist: Kazimier Productions Venue: Mann Island Basin Part of the Constellations Presents season, Cetus reimagines the poetry of the night sky underwater.
  4. Intrude
    Artist: Amanda Parer Venue: Exchange Flags A fairytale or a nightmare? Joyous or a warning sign?
  5. Flight
    Artist: Arup Venue: Royal Liver Building A unique commission will utilise this new lightscape.
  6. Whole Hole
    Artist: Vendal & The Wolf - Amsterdam Light Festival Venue: Wapping Dock Wall Built into one of the most iconic gateways in the city, this vortex feels like entering a portal into another dimension.
  7. Run Beyond
    Artist: Angelo Benello Venue: Salthouse Quay Bridge A single huge figure will dominate the skyline of the Albert Dock.
  8. Submergence
    Artist: Squid Soup Venue: Mann Island Atrium Taking over one of the waterfronts most dynamic spaces, Submergence is an immersive environment.
