Norton Priory in Runcorn has been a centre for the community since 1134. Today it provides a breath-taking historical setting and thriving natural environment which all ages can enjoy together.

The 38 acres of garden and woodland set among the archaeological remains of the Priory are a delight to explore acting as a haven for visitors and wildlife. With indoor activity rooms and a packed events programme there is always something new to enjoy and the perfect choice for a family day out.

The museum displays reveal a story of prosperity, struggle, decline and survival through the lives of the Augustinian Black Canons who lived at the Priory until the dissolution of the monasteries in 1536 and the Brooke family who lived on site for 400 years, only leaving in 1921. The Georgian Walled Garden features the national collection of Tree Quince, orchards and herb garden and is the perfect setting to enjoy the changing seasons.

The refectory café and tea rooms offer light bites, drinks and cakes while the gift shops have treats for all including plants and freshly grown garden produce.

There are picnic areas, free parking for cars and coaches and secure bike storage on site.
