Discover more than a century of rich history at Port Sunlight Museum, located in the heart of the model village in Wirral.
The award-winning museum tells the story of ‘soap king’ William Hesketh Lever, his great vision for the village and the lives of the people who lived and worked in Port Sunlight.
The museum celebrates the unique heritage of the village, encompassing its formal planning, architecture and parks & gardens, from its foundation in 1888 to life in the village today.
For those wanting to explore the village, the museum offers a variety of tour options. Choose from a multimedia tour, guided village tour led by a Port Sunlight guide or a self-guided walking trail taking you on a circular route starting and ending at the museum. The museum is filled with a mix of special exhibitions, evolving displays, interactive touch screens and film footage from past into present day; in addition to a recently restored Edwardian restored worker’s cottage.
Refreshments are available from a contemporary tea room located above the museum, open daily, the tea room caters for individuals and small groups (large groups must pre-book) serving a delicious selection of freshly prepared sandwiches, light lunches, award-winning cakes. Offering a full yearly programme of events, Port Sunlight Museum is a great day out for couples, families and groups.
