Due to the current Coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19), in line with Government advice, all public events and performances will be cancelled until the end of May 2020.

It is with great regret that Liverpool Hope University announces that it has made the decision to cancel all public events at its Creative Campus, which includes The Capstone Theatre, until the end of May 2020, in line with Government guidance.

Since opening in March 2010, The Capstone Theatre has staged concerts and performances by leading national and international musicians and artists, including Courtney Pine, Kathryn Tickell, Martin Simpson, Kathryn Williams, Chilly Gonzales, Portico Quartet, Harold Budd, The Necks, Arthur Jeffes, Roger Eno, Darius Brubeck Quartet, King Creosote and Jon Hopkins, Martin Taylor and Martin Simpson, Neil Cowley Trio, Dennis Rollins Velocity Trio, Terry Seabrooke’s Milestones, Bulbs, Phronesis, Public Service Broadcasting, Lighthouse, Jim Moray, Stacey Kent, Dean Friedman, Eduardo Niebla, Ian Boddy, Berta Rojas and The Smith Quartet, alongside concerts by some of the best local musicians, spoken word events, radio broadcasts, plays, dance performances and film screenings.

The Capstone is part of Liverpool Hope University’s Creative Campus that comprises of a vibrant music department with strong links to the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. The department also organises the yearly Cornerstone Festival (November–December).

The Campus also plays host to Milapfest, the UK’s leading Indian Arts Development Trust, whose work aims to make a difference to people's lives through inspirational performances and educational experiences. Alongside regular Music and Dance performances at The Capstone, Milapfest organise a series of free monthly concerts ‘Music for the Mind and Soul’ on the last Saturday afternoon of each month.

Road Directions

From the M62: At the end of the M62, exit straight ahead (signposted A5080 City Centre). Follow Edge Lane Drive to Edge Lane (A5047) and continue on until you see a sign indicating left (for Universities). Go left and then right onto the A5047 Irvine Street, leading to Pembroke Place. Go right at the traffic lights into Anson Street, then right again on to London Road and take the left hand lane turning into Moss Street. At next lights proceed straight on to Shaw Street. The venue is approx. 100 yards on the left hand side.From the M56: From Junction 15 join the M53. Continue to Liverpool via the Wallasey Tunnel (Kingsway). Exit straight ahead toward Scotland Road/Byrom Street. Keep in the left-hand lane and at the traffic lights follow to left (signposted Warrington, Manchester and M62) on to New Islington. Stay in the left-hand lane to the second set of traffic lights and turn left on to Shaw Street. The venue is approx. 100 yards on the left hand side.

Public Transport Directions

Bus: From Liverpool City centre (Queen Square) the buses which go near to the Creative Campus are the 12, 13, 14, 14a, 14b and 19a which stop on Islington near Staples. A two minute walk from Staples down Shaw Street will lead to the venue (on left opposite The Collegiate). The 21 and 345 from Queen Square travel along Shaw Street and will drop you off directly in front of the venue.Rail: The Creative Campus is around ten minutes walk from Liverpool's largest and main railway station, Liverpool Lime Street (and around seven minutes walk from the Norton Street National Express bus station). The main entrance to the Liverpool Lime Street is opposite Queen Square Bus Terminal from which you can travel by bus.
