About

The museum has two great galleries to explore - the Glass Roots Gallery explains the history of glass and its important role in everyday life, with artifacts dating back to Ancient Egypt, and the Earth into Light Gallery tells the story of what made St. Helens great from its humble beginnings to its rise a world leader in glass making.

There are live glassblowing demonstrations daily and you can try your hand at blowing a glass bauble on one of the glass blowing courses.

See the Victorian furnace and explore the underground tunnels of the worlds first regenerative glass making furnace, built in 1887 by William Windle Pilkington.

For inquisitive minds of all ages, visit the Mirror Maze to try and find the resident wizard!

You can also treat yourself with some retail therapy in the on-site Artisan Gift Shop and enjoy delicious home cooked food in St Helens' only canal-side cafe.
