Housed in the iconic red-brick Victoria building the Victoria Gallery & Museum is a piece of art in itself.
The beautifully renovated gothic building houses the University of Liverpool’s amazing collection of fine art, silver, furniture, sculpture, ceramics, fossils, scientific equipment, zoological specimens collected by and donated to the University throughout its history.
Spanning the 16th to 21st centuries, the art collection comprises more than 6,500 items of fine art, sculpture, furniture, ceramics, glass and silverware.
Some of the highlights of the Museum collection include X-rays from the very beginning of X-ray technology, an early 20th century dental surgery and dinosaur footprints from the North West!
From the M62: at the end of the motorway continue straight ahead on to Edge Lane (A5080 and A5047) and follow the signs for Liverpool city centre and the University.Parking is avilable in th eUniveristy Visitor car parks.There is a charge for visitor parking. Rates are as displayed in the car parks.
The VG&M is situated at the top of Brownlow Hill in the Victoria Building, with its distinctive red-brick and clock tower. It is a short walk from the city centre.By rail- The nearest mainline station is Liverpool Lime Street. The nearest local station is Liverpool Central.By bus - From the City Centre buses 14 and 79 go up Brownlow Hill approximately every 5 minutes. The buses leave from the side of the Adelphi Hotel at the bottom of Brownlow Hill and stop outside the Victoria Gallery & Museum at the top of Brownlow Hill.
