- A Unique and immersive digitally mapped AV Experience hidden behind the magnificent clock faces of the West Tower.
- Stunning views accross Liverpool City Region and beyond from the 10th and 15th floors.
Offering public tours of the Grade I-listed building for the very first time, as well as a world class audio visual experience inside the historic clocktower and panoramic 360° views across Liverpool from the 15th floor viewing platform, this is a true ‘bucket list’ experience.
Tours begin in the brand new lower ground floor visitor centre where the building’s rich history starts to come to life, before guests meet their tour guide and take an express lift to access the Royal Liver Building’s 10th floor balcony, before climbing on foot to the historic clock tower to watch the audio-visual show and then continuing on foot to the 15th floor, just below the famous Liver Birds, with stunning views across the city and the Mersey.
Taking pride of place at the heart of Liverpool’s waterfront, standing as a symbol of the city, its history and its people, the Royal Liver Building holds significant historical and cultural importance to the city of Liverpool, not least as adorning its towers are the mythical Liver Birds. According to popular legend, they are a male and female pair: the female (Bella) looks out to sea, watching for sailors to ensure they return home safely, and the male (Bertie) looking in to the city, watching over the seamen's families (or ‘making sure the pubs are open’, as an alternative local version has it). Local legend also tells that the birds face away from each other as, if they were to mate and fly away, the city would cease to exist.
The clocktower audio-visual experience, backed by an original music score, is digitally-projected directly onto the walls of the historic clock tower within the 322ft Grade I-listed structure and explores the building's significance to Liverpool and how the city has changed in the 108-years since the Liver Building was built.
Board Room Tour
The impressive boardroom has played host to the Royal Liver Friendly Society for over 100 years and maintains all of its original features, including exquisite ceiling and rich wooden architecture, along with stunning views out towards the River Mersey. These special tours will take place on select dates and will take 90 minutes.
