Welcome to the home of British and international modern and contemporary art in the North; Tate Liverpool. Aren’t we lucky?
Since its opening at the spectacular Grade I listed Albert Dock in 1988, Tate Liverpool has become one of the most visited art galleries outside of London. Its close proximity to the city centre by foot and the sheer amount of special exhibitions it hosts every year make it a must-see stop on your visit to Liverpool.
Bringing together artworks from all over the world, Tate Liverpool prides itself on staging an ever-evolving programme of unique and incredible collections. With past artists featured including Gustav Klimt, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol and Claude Monet, we’re always looking forward to what the next Tate Liverpool season will bring to our doorstep.
Tate Liverpool’s gallery offers large displays of work from the National Collection free of charge. The Collection features the work of artists including L.S. Lowry, Cindy Sherman, Louise Bourgeois Mamelles and Glenn Ligon, making Tate Liverpool the perfect place to visit your favourite artworks, as well as discovering something completely new.
But why stop at the displays and exhibitions? Tate Liverpool holds frequent special events, like free daily talks and workshops for you to exclusively delve into the exhibitions, as well as free family activities, like creating your very own comics. Taking a break won’t be hard either, with magnificent views across the Albert Dock at the cafe.
Take home a piece of your day with the souvenirs at the the Tate Shop; find jewellery, art materials and designer homewares, along with gifts, books and postcards which will make your friends back home wish that they came with you.
