A Lovely Word Featuring Dan Simpson


Former Canterbury Laureate and Poet-in-Residence at Waterloo Station, Dan Simpson, headlines this month's A Lovely Word. 

Dan Simpson is a former Canterbury Laureate, and has been Poet-in-Residence at Waterloo Station, National Trust Stowe, and Canterbury Roman Museum. He has had pieces commissioned by Southbank Centre, Free Word, and the Beaney Library. Dan has performed around the world including Glastonbury Festival, Chicago's Uptown Poetry Slam, Sofar Sounds Auckland, Edinburgh Fringe, and on the BBC. He is published by Burning Eye Books, and is touring his second collection Totally Cultured.

A Lovely Word is a spoken word night that takes place on the first Thursday of every month in the Everyman Theatre on Hope Street. Sign ups for 5-minute open-mic slots start at 7.30pm and performances begin at 8pm. Alternatively, you can simply sit back and listen. The event is completely free.

A Lovely Word is supported by the Everyman & Playhouse and Arts Council England, and aims to support emerging and emerged performance poets through artist development and advice.
