BlackFest is an annual grassroots homegrown combined Black arts festival founded in 2018 which platforms and develops work by Black creatives and communities in established arts venues and community spaces; bridging the gap between institutions and marginalised communities. The festival answers a crucial need in the Liverpool’s cultural offer: celebrating Black arts. BlackFest is committed to presenting a diverse and innovative programme of new writing which speaks to and reflects contemporary society.
Our programme includes dance, visual arts, music, film, literature, theatre and community productions. We use arts for social inclusion, community cohesion and make arts accessible for underrepresented & underdeveloped groups with positive outcomes in well- being, employment, further training championing leadership. Over the past 2 years we have worked with arts organisations such as Unity Theatre, The Bluecoat, Philharmonic Hall, Toxteth TV, FACT, Everyman Playhouse Theatres and local, international and nationwide artists.
Our festival runs for a week at the end of September in all our various ocal arts organisations and creative community hubs.
Our ticket guide prices vary some are £10 - £5 some events are pay what you want and some entirely FREE.
