Coinciding with China’s First Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors Exhibition at the World Museum around the corner, feat your eyes on a complementary exhibition of cutting edge contemporary art that celebrates our current relationship with China and looks to the future.

The artists included cover a range of themes including consumerism, technology, connectivity and the individual’s place in the world today. The sculptures, paintings, installations, videos and photographs are installed throughout Grade I listed, St Georges Hall, including in spaces not normally open to the public. 19 works, never exhibited in their entirety before will decorate the gallery spaces hidden in The Vaults of the historic hall; something that cannot be missed.

This exhibition will create a window into work by some of the most exciting and renowned artists from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, including: Luke Ching, Cao Fei and Wu Chi-Tsung.

All works belong to the University of Salford Art Collection and this is first time the New Collection of Chinese Contemporary Art has been displayed in full.  Formed through a partnership with the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art in Manchester, this Collection offers a unique window into artistic practice and 21st Century culture across Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

This exhibition is part of China Dream: Contemporary Chinese Arts X Liverpool, a major arts season aimed at capturing the reality of culture in modern China and the relationship between China and the UK.

Reflected in three chapters of specially commissioned events, China Dream will take place from February to October. Won't you join us to celebrate?
