The Rugby League World Cup 2021 will be held in October and November 2021, and will be one of the most inclusive and diverse events ever hosted in England, promoting the three simultaneous disciplines of the men’s, women’s and wheelchair World Cup.
Liverpool will welcome world-class athletes, playing an incredible sport, performing on Rugby League’s biggest stage, and it will deliver some inspirational and memorable moments that will become highlights of the 2021 sporting calendar and beyond. Liverpool and St Helens will be hosts locations and venues for the games and the teams.
Liverpool is the only city to host a match across the men’s, women’s and wheelchair events, so therefore is going to be a key destination during the Rugby League World Cup, some of the competition’s biggest moments will be here in a city with such a rich sporting history.
For the first time, the women’s and wheelchair competitions are taking on added importance in 2021, and it’s great to see Liverpool also playing host to both the women’s opening ceremony, and the Rugby League World Cup wheelchair final at the M&S Bank Arena. We know that the local community will give bring an incredible atmosphere to all matches including the iconic Anfield stadium hosting the marquee quarter-final men’s game.
The tournament aims to be the most digitally connected entertainment event in 2021 and Liverpool looks forward to being part of this.
