Should you wish to escape from the bright lights and buzz of Liverpool, there are lots of award winning beaches and coastal walks nearby, plus stunning parks, botanic gardens and countryside spas where you can blow away the city cobwebs.

Explore the endless sand dunes along Sefton’s coast and be rejuvenated by refreshing winds as you stroll along Southport Pier.

Head across to the Wirral Peninsula and stride out to Hilbre Islands Local Nature Reserve at West Kirby, or along the Wirral Way. A trip to Wirral should include a visit to the historic village of Port Sunlight with its late 19th Century Victorian architecture built by philanthropist Lord Lever for the workers in his Sunlight Soap factory.

Knowsley is one of the city region’s hidden gems and is just 8 miles from the city centre. The grand Knowsley Hall, private residence of the 19th Early of Derby, is home to the Knowsley Safari Park and a fantastic on-site spa.
