There's many reasons why Liverpool is the ideal host city

For starters, Liverpool has a proven track record at being industry leading when it comes to hosting events. In 2023, Liverpool hosted the biggest ever Eurovision Song Contest to date on behalf of Ukraine. Over 500,000 extra visitors came, saw and stayed in the city over the two week period.

The 151st Open Golf Championship took place in the region in 2023 too. In 2022 we were home to the World Gymnastics Championships, in 2021 we hosted the G7 Summit and have returning conferences from the Labour Party Conference to Comic Con.

Recent conferences and events in Liverpool

There are many reasons why Liverpool is a great host destination for conferences and events, here are just a few:

Create a lasting legacy

Hosting an event in Liverpool could enable you to be a true catalyst for change, make a difference and have a positive impact on the city and conference delegates. Liverpool Convention Bureau will work with the conference organisers to align their strategic objectives with the city's ambitions and local initiatives.

Compact walkable city

Liverpool is a compact city – train stations, hotels, shopping centres, cafes, bars, restaurants and visitor attractions are all within walking distance of each other. It takes 25 minutes to walk across the city. We’ve also got an extensive Merseyrail network that connects the city centre with the entire region.

This means the city can be your event's campus and large conferences take over the whole destination which creates a great atmosphere for your delegates. It also cuts down on your carbon footprint as it's really easy to get around on foot.

Accommodation to suit all budgets

With over 11,000 rooms available in the city centre alone, there's plenty to choose from - whether you're after luxury, boutique or budget. All delegates will find something to suit their taste and budget

Globally renowned city

Liverpool is well known for its maritime, music and sporting heritage. The city was awarded its Royal Charter back in 1207.

We are pioneering in life sciences with the most specialist hospitals and health centres in the UK outside of London.

We are on the waterfront

The heart of the city is wrapped around the world famous Liverpool Waterfront.

Our Arena and Convention Centre are also located on the Waterfront next to The Royal Albert Dock - the largest collection of Grade I listed buildings in the UK.

Museums, galleries, the iconic Royal Liver Building, cafes and restaurants and even the Fab Four can all be found in this historical setting.

Great value for money

Liverpool is one of the most cost-effective destinations in Europe, with the average subsistence, accommodation and transport costs considerably less than similar destinations in the UK.
