Labour Party Chooses Liverpool Again as Annual Conference Returns to Liverpool Experience Campus in 2027 for Sixth Consecutive Year
Liverpool Experience Campus has been confirmed as the host of the Labour Party Annual Conference for the sixth consecutive year, further strengthening the city's position as the established home of the party's annual gathering. The repeat selection reflects Liverpool's unrivalled track record of delivering a conference of national significance, alongside the scale, flexibility and waterfront setting of Liverpool Experience Campus, which provides a uniquely versatile, connected environment for events of this size and profile.
The 2027 conference will once again take place at Liverpool Experience Campus, bringing thousands of delegates, politicians, exhibitors, media representatives and visitors to the city in what has become one of the most significant events on Liverpool's annual calendar. While the conference has become a familiar fixture on Liverpool's waterfront.
The event has now been hosted in Liverpool on eight occasions. Alongside this year's conference, the first hosted under the Liverpool Experience Campus identity, it has previously taken place at the city's waterfront campus in 2011, 2016, 2018, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. The 2027 return further reinforces both Liverpool's reputation for hosting major national events and the continuing appeal of Liverpool Experience Campus as a destination capable of accommodating conferences at scale.
This year's conference, which attracted over 20,000 visitors, took over the entire waterfront events campus, including the convention centre, exhibition centre, auditorium and M&S Bank Arena, and featured more than 500 on-site fringe events, keynote speeches, exhibitions and networking opportunities. The four-day event is estimated to have generated in the region of £30 million in economic impact.
The Prime Minister, Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP wrote in a handwritten letter to the LEX team:
“I just wanted to say huge thanks to you all for looking after us so well and for making my first conference such a special one in my home city. See you all next year!”
The benefits of the conference extend far beyond the campus itself, supporting hotels, restaurants, retailers, transport providers and local businesses across Liverpool and the wider city region, while showcasing the destination to a national audience.
The exhibition centre housed a 2,800-seat auditorium for plenary sessions and a substantial exhibition and networking space, demonstrating the versatility and scale of LEX. The arena was transformed into a series of meeting rooms, breakout spaces and event zones, while the interconnected Pullman Liverpool operated as the conference headquarters hotel.
Liverpool Experience Campus is uniquely positioned to host events at this scale, bringing together convention, exhibition, arena and hotel facilities within a fully connected waterfront campus. The flexibility of the site enables multiple event formats to run simultaneously while providing delegates with seamless access between venues.
The conference also showcased Liverpool Experience Campus' commitment to sustainable event delivery, with environmental considerations embedded throughout planning and operations. It marked the first Labour Party Conference delivered in partnership with catering provider Levy, whose strong focus on responsible sourcing, waste reduction and sustainable food choices closely aligned with the ambitions of both Liverpool Experience Campus and the Labour Party. Delegates were offered a range of sustainable catering options designed to reduce environmental impact, while the campus' new fully electric operational fleet supported activities across the site. Visitors also enjoyed a plug-in solar-powered bar, demonstrating how innovative event infrastructure can help reduce carbon emissions while enhancing the delegate experience. Together, these initiatives formed part of a wider approach to delivering a high-quality conference that placed sustainability at its heart.
Liverpool Experience Campus continues to make significant progress towards its ambition of achieving net zero by 2030, twenty years ahead of the wider events industry's target, with ongoing investment in low-carbon technologies, sustainable operations and environmentally responsible event delivery.
