In May 2023 Liverpool welcomed The European Society of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology (ESPO) conference to the City.
Brought here by Club Liverpool Ambassador, Ray Clarke – Consultant Surgeon at Alder Hey and Professor at University of Liverpool, the conference promoted the quality of care of children with otorhinolaryngology disorders within Europe.
The conference saw 1034 delegates and top specialists from 69 countries descend on Liverpool to share their wisdom, debate controversies, discuss, instruct and hear views on all of the ‘hot topics’ in their subspecialty.
Delegates not only had an action packed conference to enjoy but the opportunity to explore Liverpool’s rich cultural heritage, stunning waterfront and visitor experience over the three day conference.
Ray worked closely with the Club Liverpool Team and ACC Liverpool to create the successful bid bringing the event to the City.
Ray Clarke said:
“Liverpool was chosen for its wonderful ambience, history and hotel locations; all adjacent to the venue and it did not disappoint – our delegates were truly blown away. Many veterans of over 30 years of medical conferences told me it was the best they had ever been to, and the sense of ‘belonging’ was just great.
The Liverpool welcome was terrific, from staff at Lime Street, taxi drivers, hotel staff, conference staff, the security guys – everyone made the experience fantastic.
Delegates enjoyed exploring the City with Anfield, the Maritime Museum and the Anglican cathedral being particular favourites.
The city really does embrace everybody. Some lovely memories of Liverpool are now dispersed across the world. For any other Ambassadors considering bringing their conference to Liverpool I would say just go for it, your international delegates will be captivated by the atmosphere, the banter, the fun, and the highly efficient and experienced conference staff. And the music just rocks, so many discovered their ‘inner Beatle’”
