Who is organising this event?
Radio 1’s Big Weekend is organised in partnership by the BBC and Liverpool City Council.
What are the dates of the event?
Friday 23rd, Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th May 2025.
What time does the event start and finish?
Gate opening times to be confirmed in due course. Events on all days will finish by 22:00.
What is the capacity at the event?
General Admission capacity will be 34,500 per day.
Why Liverpool?
Liverpool is the perfect choice to host Radio 1 Big Weekend – it’s a city renowned for its music, its heritage, some of the best audiences around and has a global reputation for staging incredible outdoor events. The event will also form part of Liverpool’s UN Accelerator City year.
What is UN Accelerator City?
As of November 2024, Liverpool is the first ever UN Accelerator City for Climate Action, which means the city has one year to pilot a series of exciting, boundary-pushing initiatives to look into how to make music events and TV/film productions as sustainable as possible. Radio 1 and Liverpool City Council will be working together to try and make this the most sustainable outdoor live music event ever produced in the city, in line with the BBC’s Sustainability programme and Liverpool City Council’s Accelerator City programme for climate action.
How do I get a ticket?
Details of how to purchase tickets will be announced by the BBC in March. As in previous years, tickets for this event will be geographically weighted with the majority share ringfenced for local people.
How old do you have to be to attend?
There is no age restriction for Radio 1’s Big Weekend however those aged 15 and under will need to be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over at all times. If you are under 18, please ensure you have permission from your parent and guardian to attend. Those aged 2 and under do not require a ticket, but must be in the care of an adult aged 18 or over.
Am I guaranteed a ticket if I live close to the event or operate a business in close proximity to the park?
Anyone living in close proximity to Sefton Park or operating a business in close proximity and wanting to attend the event will need to follow the standard ticket purchase process – full ticketing information will be shared by the BBC in March.

Where can local residents and businesses find out more?
There will be a drop-in session organised prior to the event, giving residents and local business owners the chance to speak to representatives from Liverpool City Council, the BBC and other key stakeholders involved in the organisation of the event. More details will be provided in due course.
What about noise / disturbance from the event?
The event will operate under the existing Premises Licence for Sefton Park and will adhere to the conditions of the licence. It is being organised by a team with a long track record of delivering major live music festivals and events, and a dedicated noise management team will be in place to manage this area. There will be a dedicated helpline for any residents with any concerns including noise during the event, this phone number will be published nearer the time.
How are you going to keep the park clean and protect the wildlife?
Liverpool is well versed in staging major, outdoor events – and Sefton Park has been a popular location for many years. There will be a comprehensive cleansing plan in place in the run up to, during and after the three-day festival, which will see the park kept clean and tidy. Organisers have, and will continue to, work with wildlife experts to ensure there is no detrimental impact on the natural habitats located in the green space.
What about public access into the park?
It is the aim of the event organisers to minimise disruption as much as possible for regular users of Sefton Park. This is an extensive space of 200 acres and the event site will only take up part of it so there will still be plenty of space for the public to utilise and enjoy. In the lead up to the event and during the breakdown there will be some restricted areas as the event site is built / taken down.
What facilities are you providing for those with accessibility requirements?

Will there be parking for ticketholders?
There will be no parking at the event site in and around Sefton Park, and there will be parking enforcement across the three days.
People are advised to travel by public transport to the event. If car travel is essential, use city centre car parks and utilise the excellent train and bus links into the park.
St Michael’s Railway Station, and Mossley Hill are a short walk to the park with frequent services from the city centre. Both sides of the park are served well by local buses from the city centre to the West on Aigburth road and to the East on Aigburth Road. How about accessible parking spaces?
A number of accessible parking spaces in close proximity to Sefton Park will be available for pre-registered access customers who have purchased tickets – full details on how to register for this will be made available via bbc.co.uk/bigweekend in due course.
Will there be a shuttle bus?
Liverpool City Council is developing plans to operate a return shuttle bus facility from the city centre. More information will be available in the coming weeks.

What roads will be closed throughout and periodically over the Big Weekend?
Traffic plans are currently being developed with stakeholders and partners in order to minimise disruption to local residents and businesses and will be published in due course on www.visitliverpool.com

Is camping available on site?
There will be no camping permitted within Sefton Park.

The line-up for Radio 1 Big Weekend is curated by the Network’s Music Programming Team and will feature Artists from the Radio 1 playlist.

Those uploaded tracks get sent to the BBC's local radio shows where they get listened to by a team of local presenters and producers. If they like them the tracks could get broadcast on those local stations and even propelled onto the national stage through BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, 6 Music, Radio 3, Asian Network and World Service.
To note, any artist under the age of 16 would need a family member, guardian or carer to upload on their behalf.
